Cosmetics today are being permanently applied through a process known by the medical profession as dermapigmentation; this process evolved from the ancient art of tattooing. Gloria Jean "G.J." Normand and her daughter, Jennifer Adkins, have been applying permanent pigments in the skin since 1985; prior to that, they were both Certified Clinical Electrologists.
G.J. and Jennifer have appeared as guests on several nationally televised talk shows including Oprah Winfrey, Joan Rivers, Montel Williams, Lifetime's Attitudes, Queens, as well as many others. Jennifer operates the studio in their home town of Natchitoches, Louisiana, home of the movie Steel Magnolias. G.J.'s studio is located on the beautiful Gulf Coast in Orange Beach, Alabama.
Benefits of permanent cosmetics for the average person include increased confidence and a time saving convenience. To spend time, day after day applying eyeliner, lip liner, or painstakingly drawing on eyebrows, only to have them disappear when you swim, exercise, or perspire, is very frustrating and can be embarrassing. Make-up that won't smudge, smear, or wash off eliminates this waste of time and provides a more natural look.
G.J., Jennifer, and their associates, strive to insure every client the individual attention necessary to achieve their desired results. They perceived numerous possibilities for cosmetic tattooing: an artistic ability and their knowledge of the skin have played an important role in their success. The high standards they set for themselves and their associates have brought them widespread respect and recognition. They are considered experts in the field and travel throughout the United States lecturing and demonstrating at educational symposiums for permanent cosmetics professionals. Clients and students have traveled hundreds of miles for their advice and expertise.
